300

It's a little disappointing. The movie I mean, 300.

The trailer was amazing, and there were some wonderfully shot images - including some incredible fight scenes. But it quickly got repetitive and numbing and there's no meat in the narrative at all. In the end it degenerates into a mindless blood fest.

I don't really know what went wrong - I really wanted to like the movie. But it's like a classic case of style over substance. The beautiful CGI could not make up for the lack of an engaging storyline and interesting dialog.

And I think the rain of arrows from Hero, the Hong Kong movie, looked better. Here it looks a little.. exaggerated. The way they fall from the sky, you'd expect the ground to be - I dunno - totally black? It looked so dense. But it becomes this little drizzle.

I liked Sin City a lot more. Hopefully the second movie will be just as good.

Anyway, remember the Malay wedding I was yelping about a few weeks ago? Beef rendang? Ran into the couple on the bus just now. Turned out that their new place was just a few blocks away.

When they called my name I just looked at them, with zero recognition on my face. How embarrassing. And I seem to be quite fated with this family - ran into her mom on the way to work a few days after the event.

Seeing so many new faces everyday - I'm totally numb.

A little sad that Dot's leaving. Still remember the first day she started work.

I really must start trying to move on from this job. No more procrastinating!
